Organizational Context

The Procurement Officer position is based in the WFP Chad Country Office in N'Djamena. The incumbent will report to the Head of the Procurement Unit and work closely with experienced colleagues, receiving guidance for daily procurement activities. This role is integral to supporting WFP's mission in Chad.

Job Purpose

The Procurement Officer will support procurement programs and operational activities, including launching tenders, evaluating offers, and negotiating/awarding contracts. This role ensures adherence to standard procedures for the successful procurement of food, non-food items, and services. The officer will also gather and analyze data to prepare reports on food quality and safety, contributing to risk management and a comprehensive understanding of WFP's food quality management. Collaboration with other WFP units is essential to align procurement activities with the overall program and meet food assistance needs. The position also involves supporting emergency preparedness by ensuring rapid deployment of resources and food during crises, and assisting the Programme team with food technology aspects for Cash & Voucher activities, ensuring compliance with WFP's food safety and quality rules.

Experience in food quality management is necessary. Additionally, experience in developing schedules and reports on supplier costs, and coordinating procurement processes with other units like Logistics, ICT, and Administration is expected.
