Job Purpose
The IMPACCT Project Support and Information Management Officer will provide crucial technical support for the implementation of humanitarian importation and customs preparedness initiatives across Asia. This role is central to strengthening regional and national systems, promoting streamlined importation procedures, and integrating these processes into disaster management frameworks. The officer will lead information and knowledge management efforts, ensuring organized documentation, development of knowledge products, and effective communication of project progress and outcomes. Additionally, the position supports inter-agency humanitarian logistics coordination and capacity strengthening activities with ASEAN, the AHA Centre, and national partners, contributing to the timely and efficient delivery of humanitarian assistance in a complex and disaster-prone region.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve providing comprehensive project support for humanitarian importation and customs preparedness initiatives in Asia, with a strong emphasis on information and knowledge management. This includes coordinating and facilitating meetings, workshops, and consultations for regional and national networks, such as the IMPACCT (Importation and Customs Clearance Together) network and the Asia Pacific Humanitarian Logistics Working Group (APHLWG). A key aspect is offering technical and documentation support by contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), simulation exercise materials, and mapping importation processes to identify and address bottlenecks. The role also entails managing information and knowledge by maintaining organized filing systems, developing knowledge products like guidance notes and process maps, and producing communication materials for various stakeholders. Furthermore, the position supports inter-agency humanitarian logistics coordination and contributes to strengthening emergency supply chain systems with ASEAN and the AHA Centre, ensuring alignment with regional frameworks and disaster management strategies. This involves facilitating information exchange, preparing updates for partners, and providing coordination support to relevant workstreams.
Work Experience
Requires 3-5 years of experience in humanitarian coordination, logistics, customs/importation, or related technical fields. An academic background in international relations, humanitarian logistics, or humanitarian coordination is needed. Strong writing and organizational skills, along with fluency in English, are essential. Familiarity with the ASEAN context and regional coordination mechanisms is a plus.
