Job Purpose

The Nutrition Analyst will strengthen the capacity of government counterparts to conduct critical analyses such as Fill the Nutrient Gap and Sustainable Healthy Diet assessments. This role involves supporting the translation of analytical findings into evidence-based program design, cash transfer value setting, and policy recommendations. The analyst will contribute to the development and refinement of WFP’s analytical tools, including the Enhance platform, ensuring analytical rigor and quality across diverse country contexts. Responsibilities include assessing market-based nutrition interventions, analyzing the feasibility of meeting nutritional needs, and evaluating the adequacy of cash-based transfers. The position also entails capacity building for WFP Country Offices and government partners on cost and affordability analysis and intervention modeling, ultimately contributing to improved nutrition outcomes and evidence-based decision-making in food security and nutrition programs.

Responsibilities

The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a Nutrition Analyst consultant to strengthen national capacity in nutrition analytics and evidence-based decision-making. The role involves supporting government counterparts in conducting analyses related to the cost and affordability of nutritious diets, including Fill the Nutrient Gap and Sustainable Healthy Diet assessments. This includes reviewing data on food expenditure, dietary intake, market functionality, and food prices to identify risks and inform nutrition interventions. The consultant will also assess the feasibility of market-based nutrition interventions and the nutritional adequacy of cash-based transfers. A key responsibility is to strengthen the capacity of WFP Country Offices and government partners in using WFP’s analytical tools, such as the Enhance platform, through training and technical support. This includes training on cost and affordability analysis, intervention modelling, and data collection. The consultant will contribute to developing tailored training materials and guidance, and support the institutionalization of WFP’s analytical processes. The role also involves translating analytical findings into actionable programme and policy recommendations through various decision-support and advocacy products, and preparing topic briefs and ad hoc nutrition analytics. The goal is to ensure analytical rigor, consistency, and quality across diverse country contexts, ultimately contributing to improved nutrition outcomes for vulnerable populations.
