Job Purpose
The Finance Associate will provide essential financial support for the Pacific Multi-country Office (PMCO), specifically managing activities funded under the United States Government (USG) Macro Award. This role is crucial for ensuring compliant, efficient, and timely financial management, including accurate recording, monitoring, and reporting of financial transactions. The Associate will coordinate finance support services, process payments, monitor cash flow, and maintain financial records in adherence to donor regulations and internal policies. They will also play a key role in supporting audit processes, improving financial efficiency through stakeholder coordination, and contributing to the capacity building of staff and partners on financial management. This position requires a strong understanding of USG donor compliance and experience in grant management environments with strict reporting timelines.
Responsibilities
The Finance Associate role at the World Food Programme (WFP) in the Pacific Multi-country office (PMCO) is crucial for ensuring the compliant, efficient, and timely financial management of activities funded by the United States Government (USG) Macro Award. This position involves providing technical and procedural finance support to PMCO teams, ensuring adherence to USG donor rules, organizational policies, and financial regulations. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing financial procedures and internal controls, monitoring cash flow and funding availability for optimal cash management, and processing payments accurately and promptly. The Associate will maintain financial integrity by monitoring account balances, processing transactions, and analyzing general ledger accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies. They will also be responsible for compiling financial data for accurate reporting to internal stakeholders and donors, maintaining comprehensive financial records, and coordinating with various teams to align financial processes with operational needs. Furthermore, the role supports audit processes, contributes to capacity building for staff and partners on financial management, and ensures adherence to internal controls and donor regulations. The Finance Associate must be prepared to support emergency financial requirements and possess a strong understanding of USG donor compliance, grant management, and financial analysis, with excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
Work Experience
Requires at least 6 years of experience in finance, audit, and risk management. Experience should include managing or supporting donor-funded projects.
