Job Purpose
The Intern - Graphic Design & Communication will support the WFP Human Resources Unit in Kinshasa by creating visually appealing and informative communication materials. This role involves assisting in the design of simple visual aids such as posters, flyers, banners, and internal announcements, adapting existing templates to WFP's brand standards, and preparing visuals for HR activities like recruitment and onboarding. The intern will gain practical experience using design tools like Canva, improve skills in layout and visual organization, and contribute to clear and professional HR communications. This position is ideal for a motivated individual seeking to develop graphic design and communication skills within an international humanitarian context, contributing to effective internal outreach and engagement.
Responsibilities
The Graphic Design & Communication Intern will support the Human Resources Unit in creating visual materials and internal communications. Responsibilities include assisting in the design of simple visual aids such as posters, flyers, banners, and internal announcements, adapting existing templates to align with WFP's brand guidelines, and preparing visuals using tools like Canva under supervision. The intern will also help format presentations, notes, and fact sheets, and contribute ideas for visual improvements. Additionally, they will support the preparation of short messages and announcements related to HR activities, ensuring clear and professional document presentation, and proofreading materials for visual consistency and clarity. Administrative support involves preparing visual aids for meetings and workshops, organizing communication files, and collecting visual content from HR activities. The role offers a learning opportunity to understand international humanitarian organizations and develop practical skills in visual communication within an HR context, working collaboratively with the HR team and receiving direct supervision and feedback.
Work Experience
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship. However, academic, volunteer, personal, or short-term projects related to graphic design, communication, or content creation are considered an asset.
