Job Purpose

The Security Officer will contribute to the daily management of WFP's security operations in Dhaka, ensuring the safety and security of personnel, activities, and facilities. This role involves supporting the development and implementation of security and business continuity plans, liaising with UNDSS, and ensuring compliance with security risk management measures. The officer will oversee access control, manage security equipment, and monitor local security developments to assess potential impacts on WFP operations. Additionally, the position requires preparing security reports, conducting orientation briefings for new staff, and providing operational support during emergencies, all to facilitate the effective delivery of WFP's life-saving programs.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to contribute to the daily management of WFP's security operations, ensuring the safety and security of personnel, activities, and facilities. This involves supporting the development, implementation, and testing of security and business continuity plans, including emergency response systems. A key aspect is liaising with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and participating in security management meetings to keep WFP informed of relevant developments. The role requires supporting offices in maintaining compliance with security risk management measures and overseeing facility access control. Budget management, procurement planning for security resources, and the management of security equipment to ensure serviceability and compliance are also crucial. Coordination with Human Resources on security staffing, including recruitment and capacity-building, is essential. The position demands monitoring and analyzing local security risks, assessing their impact on operations, and providing timely updates and comprehensive reports. Additionally, conducting security orientation briefings for new personnel, supporting security training, and providing operational security support during emergencies are core duties. The role also includes preparing accurate security reports and providing briefings to support informed decision-making by senior management.

Work Experience

Requires at least 5 years of overall experience, with a minimum of 3 years in professional roles (managerial or supervisory) focused on security management or security risk management. This professional experience should be in relevant military, policy, or corporate sectors, with a background in international humanitarian development. At least 1 year of this professional experience must be post-graduation.
