Job Purpose
The Business Support Assistant (Risk & Compliance) will provide specialized support and analysis for Country Office risk management activities. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective application of controls, adherence to policies and procedures, and the overall optimization of WFP resources. The incumbent will conduct field monitoring, fact-finding, and risk assessments to identify potential risks, irregularities, and compliance concerns. They will collect and analyze information to support risk monitoring and reporting, participate in compliance reviews, and assist in conducting operational assessments. The role also involves engaging with stakeholders, supporting training initiatives, and assisting with follow-up on oversight actions, all while promoting WFP's Anti-Fraud and Accountability standards.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve conducting thorough field monitoring and fact-finding missions to various operational locations, including camps, programme sites, and distribution points. This includes gathering essential information, verifying ongoing activities, and proactively identifying potential risks, irregularities, or compliance concerns. A key aspect is supporting fact-finding exercises, preliminary inquiries, and detailed documentation reviews related to allegations, complaints, incidents, or other operational issues. The role also entails collecting, compiling, and analyzing information from field offices, partners, beneficiaries, and operational units to bolster risk monitoring and reporting efforts. This includes tracking risk indicators, emerging issues, and the implementation of mitigation actions across all programme activities. Furthermore, the position requires participation in monitoring missions, spot checks, verification exercises, and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to WFP policies, procedures, and partner agreements, with a focus on documenting observations, findings, and recommendations. The role supports risk and operational assessments, stakeholder engagement, and the promotion of anti-fraud and accountability frameworks, culminating in the preparation of accurate reports and documentation for management.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience is required in investigations, monitoring, risk management, or audit. Experience in conducting audit, field monitoring, investigation, or verification exercises is also beneficial. Familiarity with operations in refugee camps, humanitarian settings, or field-based programs is desirable. Strong skills in interviewing, observation, evidence gathering, report writing, communication, and stakeholder management are essential. The ability to travel frequently to remote locations and work independently in challenging environments is also important.
