Job Purpose
The IT Solution Architect will lead the technical design and implementation of IT solutions within WFP's Technology Digital Services unit. This role is crucial for ensuring that all developed IT solutions meet WFP's stringent standards for technical usability, user acceptability, and domain suitability. The architect will provide essential direction, instructions, and guidance to off-site development teams, overseeing the software architecture and data modeling. Responsibilities include ensuring high technical quality, compliance with WFP standards (architecture, security, technology stack, UI), and managing the development lifecycle. The position involves collaborating on CI/CD infrastructure, ensuring robust IT security monitoring, and potentially acting as a Scrum Master to optimize team delivery and facilitate Scrum ceremonies, ultimately contributing to the effective delivery of WFP's mission.
Responsibilities
The IT Solution Architect is responsible for leading the technical design and implementation of IT solutions within the World Food Programme (WFP). This role involves creating software architectures and data models, ensuring solutions meet WFP's high standards for technical quality, usability, and security. The architect provides crucial direction and guidance to off-site development teams, reviews and approves backlog tickets for development sprints, and creates technical tickets to maintain solution quality. They also manage IT solution environments, oversee security monitoring tools to prevent breaches, and contribute to continuous integration and deployment infrastructure. Furthermore, the IT Solution Architect fosters an inspiring team environment with open communication and may act as a Scrum Master, coaching the team on Scrum processes, facilitating ceremonies, and resolving impediments to optimize delivery flow. This consultancy contract is for 11 months, with the possibility of remote working.
Work Experience
Requires five years of experience in software development, with a demonstrated history of successfully planning, leading, and executing related projects. Proficiency in web technologies (Python, Django, HTML, CSS, JavaScript), developing high-quality IT solutions, Git and branch management, Scrum, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) is essential.
