Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant (Nutrition) will support the smooth implementation of nutrition-related activities, primarily for the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, in WFP-assisted districts of Sindh, Pakistan. This role involves close coordination with government departments, cooperating partners, and field coordinators to ensure effective service delivery at Benazir Nashonuma Centers. The assistant will oversee the uninterrupted supply of specialized nutritious food, facilitate training sessions for project staff and stakeholders, and act as a key point of contact for resolving community feedback and operational queries. Approximately 40% of the role's time will be dedicated to monitoring activities, including site visits and data compilation, to support operational decision-making and ensure quality programme implementation.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant (Nutrition) role involves supporting the Benazir Nashonuma Programme in WFP-assisted districts, reporting to the Programme Policy Officer. Key responsibilities include coordinating with government departments, cooperating partners, and field coordinators to ensure smooth program implementation at the district level. This involves maintaining close liaison with health departments and other nutrition partners to facilitate service delivery to eligible beneficiaries. The role also ensures the uninterrupted supply of Specialized Nutritious Food (SNF) and assists in developing distribution plans. A significant portion of the role (approximately 40%) is dedicated to monitoring activities, including conducting quality benchmark checks, periodic monitoring trips, and spot checks to project sites and cooperating partners. The assistant will also compile data, support analysis, and prepare reports to aid operational decision-making. Furthermore, they will act as a primary point of contact for resolving community feedback and operational queries, escalating issues as necessary. Facilitating training and capacity-building sessions for project staff and stakeholders is also a crucial aspect. The position requires maintaining information records and monitoring plan documentation, and assisting the M&E unit in addressing monitoring findings. The role also involves supporting the Community Feedback Mechanism for timely issue redressal and completing mandatory training. The Programme Assistant will perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall effective delivery of services and program oversight.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years of work experience in nutrition and public health in emergencies. A minimum of 2 years must be specifically in CMAM or stunting prevention projects within the province. Basic knowledge of monitoring mechanisms and their application to critical WFP activities is also necessary.
