Job Purpose
The Logistics Assistant will support the implementation of well-defined standard logistics and supply chain processes to ensure the effective delivery of goods and services. This involves providing assistance to logistics operations, facilitating timely ordering and delivery of commodities, and supporting vendor contracting activities. The role requires responding to technical queries, contributing to budget monitoring, and assisting in inventory and commodity accounting data management. Additionally, the assistant will support operational pipeline analyses, process documentation for logistics operations, and compile data for reports to aid informed decision-making. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of humanitarian aid to beneficiaries.
Responsibilities
The Logistics Assistant role at the World Food Programme (WFP) involves supporting and implementing standard logistics and supply chain processes to ensure the effective delivery of goods and services. Key responsibilities include assisting with logistics operations, facilitating the timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies to partners and destinations, and supporting the management of vendor contracts, including performance monitoring. The role requires responding to technical queries, contributing to budget preparation and monitoring, and assisting in inventory management to track stock status from source to beneficiary. Additionally, the assistant will help maintain commodity accounting data quality, support operational planning and analysis, and process documentation for logistics operations such as customs clearance and invoice verification. They will also be responsible for collecting and compiling data for reports, ensuring accuracy in corporate systems, and liaising with stakeholders to optimize logistics management. Furthermore, the position may involve guiding other support staff to ensure tasks are completed to standard.
