Job Purpose
The Programme Associate (Social Protection) will provide crucial operational support and technical analysis for WFP's social protection initiatives in Chad. The Associate will support technical activities related to the Unified Social Registry (RSU), contribute to the coordination of joint projects with UNICEF, and facilitate technical exchanges with government ministries. The position requires active participation in coordination meetings, analysis of program performance, documentation of lessons learned, and contribution to resource mobilization efforts, all while ensuring the integration of gender equality, protection, and inclusion principles into program activities.

A key initiative is the joint WFP-UNICEF Sahel Social Protection Project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by KfW. The role involves providing operational support and technical analysis for social protection activities, including monitoring program implementation, managing resources, supporting the Unified Social Registry (RSU), coordinating joint projects, and engaging with government ministries and humanitarian partners. The position also contributes to program performance analysis, poverty and vulnerability studies, and the documentation of best practices and lessons learned to inform future interventions and policy dialogue. Integration of gender equality, protection, disability inclusion, and conflict sensitivity into social protection activities is also a key responsibility.
Work Experience
The role requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in implementing social programs or food security programs using cash transfers. Proven experience working with government institutions on social policy development or program implementation is essential. Experience in large-scale, multi-partner, multisectoral programming is also required. Prior experience with WFP or another UN agency is mandatory.
