Job Purpose
The Risk Officer will support the strengthening and implementation of risk management activities within the WFP Egypt Country Office. This role is crucial for identifying, assessing, and monitoring strategic, operational, financial, and compliance risks. The incumbent will promote consistent application of internal controls, ensure adherence to corporate policies, and enhance operational integrity and effectiveness. Responsibilities
The Risk Officer will be instrumental in strengthening risk management within the WFP Egypt Country Office. This involves actively participating in the identification, assessment, and monitoring of strategic, operational, financial, and compliance risks. A key responsibility is to promote the consistent application of internal controls and ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures, thereby enhancing operational integrity and effectiveness. The role supports the integration of risk management into daily activities, facilitates risk assessments, and contributes to risk reporting and escalation. Additionally, the officer will bolster compliance monitoring, audit readiness, and provide advice on mitigation measures. This position plays a crucial role in reinforcing control frameworks and supporting risk-informed decision-making to ensure the efficient and accountable use of WFP resources and the successful achievement of Egypt's strategic objectives. Responsibilities include updating risk registers, monitoring key risk indicators, supporting managers in risk assessments, liaising with oversight bodies, and ensuring compliance with corporate escalation protocols. The officer will also track incidents, support donor risk-sharing engagements, contribute to the Executive Director’s Assurance exercise, and promote accountability across functional units. Furthermore, the role involves preparing for internal and external audits, implementing the Three Lines Model, promoting anti-fraud and anti-corruption measures, and supporting business continuity management. Capacity building through training and information sessions on risk management and compliance is also a significant aspect of the role.
Work Experience
The role requires knowledge of international organization governance, structures, and strategies. Experience in program/project management, monitoring, and reporting is essential, including understanding results hierarchies and performance metrics. Candidates should have participated in risk analysis, mitigation strategy development, and implementation. Experience in assessing internal controls and recommending mitigation actions, preferably within organizations using modern enterprise risk management frameworks, is also desired. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary for collaborating with other units on initiative planning and impact assessment.
