Organizational Context

Job Purpose
The Monitoring Assistant will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring program activities within their designated intervention area, ensuring effective support and reporting. This includes planning field missions, covering all activity sites, and systematically sharing visit reports, incidents, and recommendations with the RAM unit. The role involves data entry into dedicated platforms, active participation in CFM mechanisms, and proposing strategies for activity improvement based on monitoring findings. The Assistant will also mentor beneficiaries, support partner project proposals, analyze technical and financial reports, and ensure timely partner reporting and payments. A key aspect is ensuring the quality and quantity of assistance aligns with WFP standards and contributing to community sensitization on protection and gender issues.
Responsibilities
The Monitoring Assistant (Field Assistant) plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation of World Food Programme (WFP) activities within a designated intervention zone. This position involves coordinating and monitoring field activities, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all operational sites. A key responsibility is the systematic reporting of site visit findings to the RAM unit, including any urgent incidents or recommendations. The assistant is also tasked with entering field reports into the dedicated RAM platform and actively participating in the CFM (Complaints and Feedback Mechanism) system. Based on monitoring activities and an understanding of field situations, the role involves proposing strategies to improve partner-implemented activities. This includes guiding beneficiaries, particularly youth and women, in enhancing production, accessing profitable markets, and participating in value chain activities. The assistant will track the identification and selection of schools, organizations, youth, and women for school feeding and resilience programs, and facilitate the choice of viable sectors for young people and women. They will also support women's associations, especially in horticulture, to improve production and market access. Producing monthly progress reports on activities and indicators, and supporting partners in developing technical and financial project proposals are also core duties. The role requires analyzing partner proposals and reports, ensuring timely partner reporting, and tracking partner payments. Additionally, the assistant advises partners on beneficiary protection and dignity during assistance delivery, monitors community work, participant targeting, and food/cash distributions, ensuring the quality and quantity of assistance align with WFP standards. Data collection on project implementation, indicator tracking, and analysis for decision-making are essential. The assistant will also contribute to community awareness on protection and gender issues, participate in local coordination mechanisms, and support the organization of reviews and evaluations. Finally, they will facilitate baseline surveys and Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) and perform other related tasks as needed.
Work Experience
Requires a secondary education plus a post-secondary certificate/diploma in economics, agronomy, social sciences, statistics, nutrition, or related fields. Minimum of five years of experience in school feeding, nutrition, and resilience activities. Ideal experience includes agronomy/rural engineering, nutrition, program result collection, quantitative/qualitative analysis, and reporting. Experience in rural development implementation and monitoring is also preferred. Proficiency in French (spoken and written) is mandatory; English and local languages are assets. Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet) are essential. Must be able to work independently and in a team, communicate complex issues effectively, and interpret program-related matters.
