Job Purpose
The Monitoring Assistant will contribute to the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of WFP's programmatic activities at the community level. This role is crucial for ensuring the effectiveness, quality, and accountability of interventions in assigned areas. The Assistant will act as a liaison between WFP, implementing partners, and beneficiary communities, facilitating communication and ensuring beneficiary mobilization. Key responsibilities include conducting regular field visits to verify activity compliance, monitoring performance indicators, identifying operational issues, and proposing corrective measures. The role also involves collecting quantitative and qualitative data using digital tools, supporting beneficiary targeting and registration, and maintaining project databases. Furthermore, the Monitoring Assistant will promote accountability mechanisms, raise awareness among beneficiaries, and ensure community concerns are relayed. This position requires strong reporting skills, including preparing mission reports and contributing to broader program reports, documenting best practices, and maintaining relationships with local authorities and partners.
Responsibilities
The Monitoring Assistant (Field Assistant) plays a crucial role in supporting the World Food Programme's (WFP) programmatic activities at the community level. This position is vital for ensuring the effectiveness, quality, and accountability of WFP's interventions in assigned areas. Key responsibilities include assisting in the planning and organization of field activities, acting as a liaison between WFP, implementing partners, and beneficiary communities, and supporting the mobilization of beneficiaries. The role involves ensuring adherence to WFP's operational procedures and standards, as well as maintaining the activity schedule. The Monitoring Assistant conducts regular site visits to verify the conformity of activities with approved plans, monitors physical achievements and performance indicators, and promptly identifies operational issues, proposing corrective measures. Data collection and management are also central, involving the gathering of quantitative and qualitative data using digital tools, verifying data accuracy, supporting beneficiary targeting and registration, and contributing to project database updates. Furthermore, the role emphasizes accountability and community engagement by sensitizing beneficiaries, promoting feedback mechanisms, and relaying community concerns. The Assistant is responsible for preparing mission reports, contributing to regular reporting, and documenting best practices and lessons learned. Coordination with local authorities and partners, and representation at coordination meetings are also expected.
Work Experience
Requires at least five years of field experience, including data collection on program outputs and outcomes, quantitative and qualitative analysis, report writing, and communicating findings to stakeholders. Experience with WFP monitoring and evaluation systems and standards is necessary. Experience with humanitarian or development organizations is preferred, and digital data collection experience is a plus.
