Job Purpose
The Assistant Logistics Officer (Roster) FT G5 will support the effective implementation of standardized logistics and supply chain procedures to ensure the timely and efficient provision of goods and services. This role involves assisting with procurement, delivery of commodities, managing service provider contracts, and responding to technical queries. The position will contribute to budget monitoring, stock management, and data quality assurance for supply chain operations. Key responsibilities include processing logistics documentation, resolving operational issues, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. The role also supports data collection and reporting to facilitate informed decision-making and contributes to the overall mission of delivering effective humanitarian assistance.
Responsibilities
The Logistics Assistant is primarily responsible for supporting various logistics and supply chain operations to ensure the efficient delivery of goods and services, particularly food assistance, to beneficiaries. This involves assisting with the timely ordering and delivery of supplies to authorized partners and sites, as well as managing contractual activities with logistics service providers, including performance monitoring and evaluation. The role also requires responding to technical inquiries and requests for assistance, adhering to standard procedures, and escalating complex issues to supervisors. A key aspect is contributing to budget establishment, monitoring, and revision across all implementation modalities, ensuring compliance with institutional rules. The assistant helps supervise inventory management, analyzing trends, and reporting on stock status from source to beneficiary, while also ensuring the quality and integrity of product accounting data. Furthermore, the position supports operational supply chain analyses, evaluations, and planning. Responsibilities extend to processing logistics documentation such as customs clearance and invoice verification, resolving operational problems, and preparing various reports (e.g., on products, transport, financial closure, physical inventory) to ensure data accuracy in internal systems for informed decision-making. The assistant will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders to manage logistics efficiently and provide guidance to other support staff on routine tasks.
Work Experience
Experience required includes using internal systems for tracking shipments, supplies, claims, and food stocks. Candidates should have experience in data analysis (merchandise, funds, etc.) and reporting. Additionally, experience is needed in evaluating service provider performance against key performance indicators and assisting with contractual documentation. Providing technical support for internal systems is also a required experience.
