Job Purpose

The Senior Programme Assistant - Quality and Nutrition will provide specialized operational support with minimal supervision, ensuring the organized, timely, and accurate execution of assigned activities. This role involves guiding less experienced staff on standard practices and leading the implementation of food safety and quality management strategies. The position will offer technical guidance on menu planning, food and nutrition education, and capacity building in nutrition, all within the framework of projects and programs developed by the Riohacha Area Office. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the adequate planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of food and nutrition security strategies, verifying that school meal programs meet established nutritional standards, and providing training on food handling and nutritional adequacy. The role also includes reporting on program execution, supporting quality and safety plans, fostering stakeholder relationships, and supervising operational processes related to food safety and quality.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to ensure the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of food and nutrition security strategies within projects and programs. This involves verifying that food menus meet established technical and nutritional standards, and providing training on safe food handling practices to all involved personnel. Key duties include preparing regular reports on program execution, focusing on nutritional quality, food consumption, and identifying areas for improvement, while ensuring traceability and compliance with regulations. The role also entails supporting the development and implementation of quality and safety plans for food programs, fostering collaboration with supply chain partners to establish policies for food safety and quality, and supervising systems to prevent food loss. Additionally, the position requires providing expert advice on food processing, production, and control, monitoring operational processes through data analysis, and overseeing the maintenance of infrastructure and equipment used in food operations. Ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitary standards, conducting technical assistance to supply chain actors, participating in audits, and coordinating program monitoring committees are also crucial aspects of this role.

Work Experience

Requires five (5) years of progressive experience in designing and implementing social programs, territorial development, planning, and community participation. Specific experience of at least three (3) years is needed in projects related to advising, implementing, monitoring, and contracting school feeding services. Experience in complex contexts, humanitarian responses, capacity building for community organizations, and with UN agencies is desirable.
