Job Purpose
The Finance Associate G6 will provide essential finance, budget, and administration support services, ensuring the efficient functioning of operations and informing strategic decision-making. This role involves interpreting financial and budgetary information, maintaining compliance with WFP's financial policies, rules, and regulations, and supporting the development and implementation of robust accounting procedures and systems. The incumbent will monitor daily cash positions, optimize liquidity portfolios, and ensure timely processing of payments and invoices. A key responsibility includes contributing to budget preparation, monitoring expenditure, and forecasting future funding needs. The role also entails coordinating with other teams to ensure seamless financial and administrative service delivery, managing account balances accurately, and generating financial reports. Furthermore, the Finance Associate will allocate tasks, provide guidance, and train support staff in financial resource management, while remaining prepared for immediate emergency response requirements.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve providing comprehensive procedural and technical support in finance and budget management to ensure adherence to WFP financial policies and regulations. This includes supporting the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, accounting systems, and cash controls. A key duty is monitoring daily cash positions to optimize surplus cash utilization and maximize investment returns. The role also entails managing the centralized registry system for timely processing of payments to staff and suppliers, and contributing to budget preparation, implementation, and monitoring, including expenditure tracking and forecasting to meet future funding needs. Coordination with other teams is essential for efficient financial and administrative service delivery. Furthermore, the position requires monitoring account balances, processing financial transactions accurately, analyzing general ledger accounts for corrective actions, and compiling data for monthly financial reports. Task allocation, guidance, and on-the-job training for support staff in financial resource management are also expected. Finally, the role demands readiness for emergency preparedness and providing immediate support in crisis situations.
Work Experience
The role requires experience in assessing the financial health and stability of projects and initiatives to ensure compliance with local laws. Additionally, candidates must have experience working collaboratively with auditors and other third-party vendors.
