Job Purpose
The Digital Platform Manager will lead the strategic direction, roadmap, and performance of WFP’s public-facing digital platforms, including WFP.org and Freerice. This role is crucial for ensuring these platforms deliver high-impact digital engagement, support organizational priorities, and expand WFP’s global reach. The manager will align editorial, technical, and user experience priorities to maintain platform relevance and effectiveness in a dynamic digital landscape. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing the digital platform strategy, defining governance frameworks, managing the product roadmap, and overseeing user experience through research and data analysis. The role also involves managing external vendors, contributing to budget planning, and coordinating with various stakeholders to drive the successful transformation and continuous improvement of WFP’s digital presence, including the significant WFP.org revamp in 2026.
Responsibilities
The Digital Platform Manager at the World Food Programme (WFP) is responsible for leading the strategic direction, roadmap, and performance of WFP’s public-facing digital platforms, including WFP.org and Freerice. This role ensures these platforms effectively support organizational priorities, drive high-impact digital engagement, and expand WFP’s global reach. Key accountabilities include defining and maintaining platform governance frameworks, managing the product roadmap, and prioritizing initiatives based on organizational impact and user value. The manager will lead user experience (UX) efforts, applying best practices in web design, accessibility, and usability to enhance engagement. This involves overseeing user research, data analysis, and coordinating with design and development teams. Additionally, the role involves supervising the web team, managing stakeholder requests from HQ and Country Offices, and providing strategic guidance on content quality and alignment with WFP’s corporate narratives. The manager will also oversee the planning and optimization of digital campaigns, explore AI-enabled tools, and coordinate product development and partnerships for Freerice. Deliverables include a comprehensive digital platform roadmap, oversight of the WFP.org revamp, improved platform performance, and enhanced editorial and user experiences.
Work Experience
Requires 7-10 years of progressive experience in digital platforms, website management, UX, or related fields.
