Japan is a key global partner, supporting resilience and disaster risk reduction in the Philippines. This consultancy focuses on strengthening engagement with Japan, a crucial donor.

Job Purpose

The Partnerships Officer (Japan Engagement Consultant) will focus on WFP's relationship with Japan, supporting partnership and communication activities to mobilize resources and enhance WFP's visibility. The role involves conducting research to identify partnership opportunities, managing dialogue with Japanese organizations like the Embassy of Japan and the WFP Tokyo Office, and fostering trust. The consultant will contribute to establishing new partnerships, particularly with Japanese private sector companies in the Philippines. Responsibilities also include managing translations for communications materials, supporting event preparation for donor visits, and developing briefing notes and proposals. The ultimate goal is to advance WFP Philippines' Country Strategic Plan through strengthened engagement with Japan.

Responsibilities

The Partnerships Officer is responsible for identifying and developing partnership and resource mobilization opportunities for WFP, with a specific focus on engaging Japanese organizations. This involves conducting marketing research, managing corporate dialogue with entities like the Embassy of Japan, and nurturing trust to facilitate partnership growth. The role requires proactive networking to establish new partnerships, particularly with Japanese private sector companies operating in the Philippines. Additionally, the officer will manage translations of communications materials into Japanese, develop and ensure the quality of funding proposals, and support the preparation of events, such as visits from dignitaries and donors, to advance WFP's objectives. Key deliverables include stakeholder mapping, research reports, briefing materials, funding proposals, translated communications, event coordination, partnership tracking, and recommendations for strengthening strategic engagement with Japan. The position demands strong skills in partnership development, donor engagement, resource mobilization, and cross-cultural communication, with a deep understanding of Japanese business culture and priorities.

Work Experience

Requires demonstrated experience in partnership development, donor engagement, resource mobilization, and private sector outreach, preferably within an international organization. Must have a strong understanding of government and corporate priorities, stakeholder management, and multi-stakeholder partnership development, with a proven ability to identify and cultivate new opportunities. Experience in communications, proposal development, donor visibility, briefing materials, and coordinating events/engagements related to humanitarian or development initiatives involving Japanese stakeholders is essential.
