Job Purpose
The Finance Officer NOA will support the stewardship of WFP's resources by monitoring budgets, forecasting financial needs, and reporting on key financial data. Responsibilities
The role involves supporting the World Food Programme's (WFP) financial stewardship by meticulously monitoring budgets, conducting forecasting for projects, and reporting on key financial data. This position is crucial for ensuring the efficient and effective management of funds, thereby enabling the delivery of assistance to beneficiaries. Key responsibilities include maintaining an awareness of corporate finance strategies, contributing to country-specific financial plans aligned with WFP's broader objectives, and ensuring compliance with corporate governance for financial reporting. The role also entails performing regular bank reconciliations, managing disbursements and receivables, overseeing cash management, and executing monthly financial closures. Additionally, the position may involve delivering core administrative services, such as managing contractors for cost-effective service provision, and undertaking basic human resource functions like managing staff benefits and local recruitment. The individual will collate data to support policy improvements, track financial risks, and contribute to financial controls and performance insights. This role also requires guiding junior staff, representing the unit in meetings, and adhering to emergency preparedness practices. The position is based in Khartoum and reports to the Senior Finance Officer.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience with an advanced university degree, or 5 years with a first university degree, is required. Desired experience includes performing basic financial analyses and managing financial transactions at least 3 years of financial transactions at a national or operational level.
