Job Purpose
The Auxiliar de Programa will support the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) Unit in Ecuador by assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of activities related to emergency preparedness, disaster risk reduction, anticipatory action, and humanitarian response. This role is crucial for strengthening WFP's operational capacity and that of its partners to effectively anticipate, prepare for, and respond to crises. The position will contribute to enhancing national and local resilience through efficient information management, activity tracking, stakeholder coordination, and adherence to WFP's programmatic and operational standards, ultimately supporting timely and effective humanitarian assistance in a region prone to recurrent shocks.
Responsibilities
The Auxiliar de Programa will support the World Food Programme's Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) unit in Ecuador. This role involves assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of activities related to emergency preparedness, disaster risk reduction, anticipatory action, and humanitarian response. The position contributes to strengthening WFP's operational capacity and that of its partners to effectively anticipate, prepare for, and respond to crises. Key responsibilities include supporting activity planning and execution, collecting and analyzing programmatic data to aid decision-making and reporting, maintaining project records and databases, and organizing field missions, workshops, and capacity-building events. The role also entails monitoring partner implementation, identifying areas for improvement, and flagging potential operational risks. Furthermore, the Auxiliar de Programa will contribute to preparing reports, presentations, and knowledge products, documenting lessons learned, and managing programmatic and operational information using WFP's corporate systems. Collaboration with governmental actors, international organizations, and other partners is essential to facilitate the implementation and monitoring of risk management and emergency response activities. The position requires supporting various operational and programmatic tasks as needed by the EPR Unit.
Work Experience
Requires at least four years of progressive experience in program activities, humanitarian assistance, disaster risk management, community development, or project monitoring.
