Job Purpose

The Management Services Associate (Engineer) will provide independent technical supervision and quality assurance for renovation works in Yangon. This role ensures that all construction activities adhere strictly to approved architectural designs, WFP's construction standards, and relevant regulations. The associate will monitor progress, verify material quality and workmanship, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Key responsibilities include reviewing contractor plans, conducting site inspections, identifying and reporting defects or delays, and coordinating with WFP, design consultants, and contractors. The objective is to guarantee that renovation projects are completed within the agreed timeline and scope, meeting all required quality and safety standards, thereby contributing to the efficient and effective operational infrastructure of WFP.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to provide independent technical supervision and quality assurance for renovation works, ensuring they align with approved architectural designs, WFP construction standards, and regulations. This involves overseeing the implementation timeline and scope, and maintaining required quality and safety standards. The role includes reviewing pre-construction documents, verifying site conditions, and coordinating with WFP, design consultants, and contractors. During construction, the focus is on supervising daily activities, monitoring progress, ensuring material and workmanship quality, verifying dimensions, and enforcing site safety procedures. The engineer must identify and report defects, deviations, and risks, recommending corrective actions. Coordination with stakeholders, facilitating technical clarifications, and attending site meetings are crucial. Quality control involves inspecting materials, conducting periodic tests, and ensuring proper finishing. Regular reporting on progress, issues, and recommendations is required, along with time and cost monitoring, and ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations. Deliverables include inception reports, progress reports, site inspection reports, quality assurance records, meeting minutes, defect lists, and a final completion report.

Work Experience

Requires a minimum of six years of relevant experience in construction supervision, office renovation, fit-out, building maintenance, or similar fields.
