Job Purpose

The officer will also support the development of logistics plans, analyze operational data to recommend improvements, and contribute to capacity building for staff and partners. This role requires a proactive approach to managing logistics operations, identifying productive relationships, and preparing for emergency logistics needs.
Responsibilities
The Logistics Officer plays a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, and implementing logistics functions to ensure the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries, aligning with WFP policies and standards. This involves actively contributing to the development of robust logistics plans and supporting daily operational activities. A significant aspect of the role is the coordination of Supply Chain CBT and retail initiatives, which includes conducting market assessments, managing retailer contracts and performance, and reconciling payments to maintain operational continuity. The officer is also responsible for comprehensive oversight of warehouse operations and inventory management, covering stock planning, receipt, storage, and dispatch, while meticulously ensuring accurate record-keeping and strict compliance with WFP storage standards. Furthermore, the role demands supporting the rigorous implementation of WFP's Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) guidelines, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and strategic alignment within the supply chain. The officer collects and analyzes critical data, collaborating with colleagues to identify areas for improvement in local logistics operations and recommending actions to optimize performance. Financial analysis and budget reviews are also conducted to ensure the efficient use of available funds. Guiding and supporting junior staff, preparing accurate and timely reports for informed decision-making, and contributing to the capacity building of WFP staff and partners are integral. The role also requires fostering strong relationships with logistics colleagues for an integrated approach and maintaining emergency logistics preparedness to facilitate rapid humanitarian responses.
Work Experience
Candidates must have over five years of experience in Food Safety and Quality, procurement, logistics, or supply chain management, supporting integrated operational processes. This includes at least one year of hands-on professional experience.
