Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant (BISP) will provide essential support to WFP's Nashonuma activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, overseeing a cluster of districts. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and quality delivery of nutrition services through facilitation centers. The incumbent will conduct regular field visits to monitor service quality, identify and address gaps, and provide technical support in coordination with the WFP Nutrition team and cooperating partners. Key responsibilities include supporting data compilation and analysis for operational decision-making, liaising with government departments and partners for beneficiary mobilization, ensuring uninterrupted supply of nutritional commodities, and facilitating capacity-building sessions. The position also involves preparing for donor and government missions, developing briefs, and maintaining close communication with field staff to ensure project objectives are met effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant (BISP) role involves supporting the World Food Programme's (WFP) Nashonuma activities across a cluster of districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Key responsibilities include ensuring the timely support of the Provincial Nutrition unit, conducting periodic joint field visits to facilitation centers, and identifying and rectifying any gaps in service quality. The incumbent will provide technical support and monitor BISP Project activities in close coordination with the WFP Nutrition team and cooperating partners. This includes preparing for donor and government missions, developing briefs, and performing specialized tasks aligned with WFP policies. The role requires compiling and analyzing data for reports, accurate data recording, and collaborating with internal and external counterparts, including local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions. The assistant will also support communication efforts, act as a point of contact for operational queries, and follow emergency preparedness practices. Specific duties involve developing quality checklists for facilitation centers, coordinating with logistics for commodity supply, submitting visit reports with feedback for operational improvement, and supervising specified tasks at centers. The role also entails monitoring data flow, reporting grievances, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols to prevent misappropriation of food commodities. Coordination with government departments, cooperating partners, and field coordinators is essential for smooth implementation of district-level activities, including the uninterrupted supply of nutritional commodities and facilitating training sessions for project staff and stakeholders.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the public or private sector, working with provincial, national, or international organizations. Extensive involvement in nutrition projects is preferred, with specific experience in WFP or UNICEF nutrition interventions being advantageous. Proficiency in MS Office and strong collaborative, communication, people management, and writing skills are also necessary.
