Responsibilities
The Programme and Policy Officer (Evidence and Reporting) plays a crucial role in strengthening a country office's analytical, strategic, and reporting capabilities. Key responsibilities include coordinating the development of high-quality funding proposals, concept notes, and programme strategies, ensuring they are evidence-based and aligned with corporate standards. This involves formulating theories of change, results frameworks, and monitoring systems to support resource mobilization and programme expansion. The role also entails drafting and coordinating inputs for WFP’s corporate reporting products, such as Annual Country Reports and Executive Briefs, ensuring compliance with donor requirements. Furthermore, the officer provides technical advisory support to senior management by synthesizing and analyzing programme, operational, and contextual information, translating evidence into actionable insights for decision-making and advocacy. A significant aspect of the role involves quality assurance of analytical and knowledge products, including assessments and research studies, to maintain technical rigor and strategic relevance. The officer also identifies policy engagement opportunities through stakeholder consultations and partnership development, and represents WFP in UN inter-agency technical working groups, contributing to joint analytical processes and advancing national development priorities. Finally, the role contributes to organizational learning and thought leadership by developing policy briefs and strategic analyses, enhancing WFP’s visibility and influence among partners.
Work Experience
Requires 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in policy analysis, research, and strategic writing support. Prior experience with international organizations is strongly preferred. Candidates should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends. Experience supervising junior team members and knowledge of UN/WFP systems are also beneficial.
