Job Purpose
The Magasinier (Storekeeper) plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and compliant management of WFP's warehouse operations. This position is responsible for overseeing the accurate reception, dispatch, and verification of food and non-food items, ensuring adherence to established quality standards and WFP guidelines. A primary objective is to maximize the quality of warehousing activities, minimize losses, and implement best practices in inventory management. The role involves meticulous documentation, daily stock reconciliations, and proactive identification and resolution of discrepancies to maintain robust internal controls. Furthermore, the Magasinier monitors warehouse conditions, optimizes storage space, and applies protective measures to safeguard commodities. This position also contributes to capacity building by providing guidance and on-the-job training to warehouse personnel, thereby enhancing overall operational effectiveness and accountability in humanitarian assistance delivery.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve ensuring the efficient reception, dispatch, and verification of goods to optimize warehousing operations and minimize losses. This includes accurately counting physical goods, verifying their quality against established standards, and ensuring they align with approved transport documents. A key duty is the meticulous establishment, verification, and validation of warehousing and transport documents, managing confidential files and data to generate timely reports on goods movement according to WFP standards. Daily stock reconciliations and checks are essential for internal control. The role requires conducting daily inspections of received, dispatched, and handled goods, reporting on quantity and quality, identifying stock discrepancies or damages, investigating missing quantities, and producing reports on warehouse losses with recommended solutions. Furthermore, the position entails applying appropriate protective measures for food and non-food items to maintain quality, monitoring warehouse and goods conditions for efficient space planning and systematic storage, and providing on-the-job guidance and training to warehouse staff to enhance their performance and development.
Work Experience
Candidates need at least four years of experience in the relevant field. This includes experience with databases, generating periodic reports, managing warehouses for both food and non-food items, inventory management, and processing invoices. A secondary education is required, with a post-secondary certificate in the functional area being desirable.
