Job Purpose

The Chauffeur will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and goods. This includes driving vehicles in accordance with UN regulations, adhering to authorized routes, and maintaining a high standard of vehicle upkeep. The role involves meticulous record-keeping of vehicle maintenance, ensuring the vehicle is clean and equipped, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Additionally, the Chauffeur will assist with basic administrative tasks, such as deliveries, mail collection, and bill payments, and may be required to provide simple translation services. A key aspect of the role is ensuring the safety and security of passengers and cargo, and acting as a point of contact for official visitors upon arrival.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and goods, adhering strictly to UN regulations on safety and security. This includes driving authorized routes and potentially providing simple translations for basic communication with local speakers. A key duty involves welcoming official personnel and visitors at entry points, assisting them with visa and customs procedures to ensure their smooth and secure arrival at designated destinations. Maintaining meticulous vehicle maintenance records and reporting daily on mechanical status is crucial for efficient vehicle and fuel usage, supporting accurate accounting and cost-effectiveness. The role also requires ensuring the assigned vehicle is clean, fully functional, and equipped with all mandatory safety equipment, with timely maintenance and prompt reporting of any mechanical issues. Adherence to field delivery and accident regulations, along with immediate reporting of any incidents to supervisors for informed decision-making, is essential. Additionally, the position may involve performing simple related administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, stock management, mail handling, and bill payments to provide administrative support.

Work Experience

Requires at least two years of experience as a driver, preferably with an embassy, UN agency, or international organization. Must have a good driving record and experience with various vehicle types. Desirable to have experience in defensive driving. Knowledge of local roads, safety regulations, and basic emergency assistance is also needed.
