Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a Security Consultant for its operations in Gaza. This role involves contributing to the daily management of security operations, ensuring the safety of WFP personnel, assets, and activities, and facilitating the effective delivery of humanitarian programs. The consultant will provide technical advice on security assessments and plans, develop systems for monitoring and responding to security needs, and conduct context analysis in conflict-affected areas. Key responsibilities include supporting communications and negotiations for operational security, monitoring local security developments, and advising on their impact. The role also entails maintaining security communication systems, building relationships with local partners, and aligning security activities with broader WFP programs. Integrating gender-responsive security measures, coaching junior staff, and participating in inter-agency forums are also part of the duties. The consultant will prepare timely reports, support monitoring and evaluation, and adhere to emergency security preparedness practices. This position requires an advanced university degree in a relevant field or a first university degree with additional experience, along with at least three years of professional experience in Security Risk Management, preferably within the UN or an international organization. Experience in emergency response and a strong understanding of the Gaza context are desirable. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of three years of relevant postgraduate professional experience in Security Risk Management. Experience within the UN System or an International Organization is preferred. Supporting complex projects and operational activities that maintain security operations and contribute to strategic aims is considered desirable.
