Job Purpose
The Security Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of WFP staff, operations, and facilities in Dolow. This position involves contributing to security contingency and continuity planning, implementing access control measures, and maintaining compliance with Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) and Minimum Operational Residential Security Standards (MORSS). The role requires close liaison with UNDSS and in-country security management apparatus, providing operational support, and managing security equipment and budgets. The Security Officer will also be responsible for collecting and reporting on local security developments, conducting security briefings for new staff, and supporting training activities to enhance security capabilities. This position is vital for safeguarding WFP's humanitarian mission in a challenging environment.
Responsibilities
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a security professional to contribute to the safety and security of its operations. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing security contingency and continuity plans, ensuring emergency systems are tested, and maintaining close liaison with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and local security management bodies. The role involves providing operational support to achieve Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) and Minimum Operational Residential Security Standards (MORSS) compliance, managing facilities access control, and overseeing the security budget and equipment. Additionally, the position requires collecting and reporting on local security developments, briefing new staff on security protocols, supporting training initiatives, and assisting supervisors during emergencies. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field, at least one year of experience in security management, preferably in challenging environments, and strong communication and analytical skills. Fluency in English and Somali is required. Work Experience
Requires at least one year of relevant professional experience in security management and complex security operations, ideally in conflict zones. Familiarity with UNSMS policies and protocols is a significant advantage.
