Job Purpose
The Programme Policy Officer (Human Capital Development) will play a crucial role in designing and overseeing the implementation of Nutrition, Social Protection, and School Meals Programmes in designated area offices. This position requires aligning interventions with WFP strategies and national priorities, conducting needs assessments, and ensuring programme quality through monitoring and data analysis. The officer will provide technical support to WFP staff and partners, foster collaboration with government institutions and external stakeholders, and contribute to strengthening national capacities. Key responsibilities include developing a Human Capital Development plan, organizing training, and ensuring effective communication and reporting to enhance evidence-based programming and support advocacy efforts for WFP's initiatives.
Responsibilities
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a professional to support the design and implementation of Nutrition, Social Protection, and School Meals Programmes. This role involves aligning these initiatives with WFP strategies and national priorities, tailoring interventions to specific population needs, and coordinating with government institutions for joint planning and execution. The position requires monitoring programme implementation to ensure adherence to WFP standards, donor requirements, and providing technical support to staff and partners. Key responsibilities include promoting best practices, identifying synergies between different programme areas, and fostering collaboration with internal units and external partners like UNICEF and government ministries. The role also entails conducting needs assessments, developing capacity strengthening plans, organizing training, and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders. Additionally, the professional will track programme indicators, contribute to reporting and knowledge products, maintain accurate records, and assist in developing work plans and budgets. The position emphasizes data accuracy, evidence-based programming, and strengthening coordination mechanisms with national and sub-national counterparts to maximize impact and efficiency.
Work Experience
Requires at least one year of experience with an advanced university degree, or a first university degree with a minimum of three years of experience. Experience should be in nutrition program implementation, public health, food security, or related activities, preferably in a humanitarian context with international NGOs, UN agencies, or government institutions. Demonstrated leadership in emergency nutrition coordination is also required.
