Job Purpose
The Communications Assistant (Graphic Designer) will be based in the WFP Country Office in Islamabad, Pakistan, reporting to the Communications Officer. This role is crucial for enhancing the visual communication of the country office by providing graphic design and information management support to the Communications unit and other departments as needed. The incumbent will be responsible for modernizing the visual appearance of knowledge products, reports, briefs, presentations, donor visibility materials, and social media content. Key responsibilities include creating visually appealing infographics, social media posts, and design artwork, as well as functioning as an in-house video editor for short documentaries and social media content. The position contributes to the effective implementation of the Communication and Advocacy Strategy by ensuring high-quality design and visually engaging internal and external communications, ultimately strengthening WFP's narrative as a key partner in Pakistan.
Responsibilities
The Communications Assistant (Graphic Designer) role at the World Food Programme (WFP) in Islamabad, Pakistan, involves enhancing the country office's visual communication across various platforms. Key responsibilities include supporting the Communications unit with daily information management and graphic design tasks, such as creating visually appealing reports, infographics, social media posts, and presentations. The role also entails functioning as an in-house video editor for short documentaries and social media content, ensuring high-quality design for knowledge products, and contributing to the Communication and Advocacy Strategy. The assistant will develop infographics for different teams like VAM, Programme, Partnerships, and Supply Chain, and liaise with provincial offices on donor visibility materials. A significant aspect of the job is upgrading the design of existing briefing packages and using graphic design to build WFP's narrative as a partner for food and nutrition support in Pakistan. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with the Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM) unit to create visual maps of WFP's operations and performing other assigned tasks aligned with the role's expertise.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant graphic design experience, supported by a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects. Experience in design within the development sector is also necessary.
