Organizational Context

Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant (Emergency Preparedness and Response) will support the implementation of specialized and standardized activities and processes related to emergency policies and programmes. This role is crucial for ensuring WFP's readiness to respond rapidly to crises by providing support to project management, data collection, and analysis for operational decision-making. The incumbent will contribute to harmonizing activities with broader programme policies, maintain accurate data records, and foster collaboration with internal and external partners, including local governments and NGOs. A key aspect of this position is to support communication with partners, manage information platforms, and contribute to the identification and dissemination of best practices in emergency preparedness and response, ensuring effective and timely humanitarian assistance.
Responsibilities

This role supports WFP's emergency programs by performing specialized and standardized activities related to policies and programs. Key responsibilities include harmonizing activities with broader program guidelines, providing project management and general office support, and collecting and analyzing data on food assistance needs, resource utilization, and program progress to inform operational decisions. The position also involves meticulous data recording, collaborating with internal counterparts, and communicating with external partners such as NGOs and government institutions. A crucial aspect is adhering to emergency preparedness standards for rapid response and resource deployment. Additionally, the role contributes to identifying and disseminating best practices, supporting the development of collaboration agreements, managing internal and external coordination, and maintaining organized records of all emergency-related documentation. Work Experience
The role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency preparedness and response. Additionally, at least 3 years of experience is needed in technical coordination with partners, local governments, and national/regional structures involved in emergency response. Experience in project management, preferably in emergency response projects, is also required for at least 3 years. Experience working within the Honduras humanitarian network is desirable.
