Job Purpose

The Monitoring Assistant will support WFP's operations in Gharm and Bokhtar by verifying the planned movements and distribution of food and non-food items, ensuring adherence to WFP standards. This role involves maintaining accurate information records, monitoring plan documentation, and collating data to support programme reviews and informed decision-making. The assistant will liaise with cooperating partners and beneficiaries to gather feedback, identify programmatic issues, and improve service delivery. They will also provide guidance to partners on WFP operational practices and monitoring tools, contributing to WFP's visibility. The position requires preparing field mission reports and following emergency response procedures, ensuring efficient and effective programme implementation in line with WFP's strategic objectives in Tajikistan.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position are central to ensuring the effective and compliant delivery of humanitarian assistance. Key duties include meticulously verifying the planned movements and distribution of both food and non-food items, promptly reporting any issues or discrepancies to supervisors to facilitate timely resolution, and upholding WFP's stringent standards for quantity and operational quality. The role demands diligent maintenance of comprehensive information records and monitoring of plan documentation, such as commodity movement logs and programme checklists, which are crucial for the seamless delivery and distribution process. Furthermore, the job holder is tasked with collating vital data from assistance programmes, following clear directives, to support thorough programme reviews and enable informed decision-making that optimizes aid efforts. A significant aspect involves proactive liaison with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather essential feedback and comments, which are instrumental in refining programme strategies and enhancing service delivery. This includes receiving and consolidating feedback from beneficiaries, aiding in the identification of programmatic issues to foster more efficient and impactful operations. The individual will also provide crucial guidance to cooperating partners on WFP's operational practices, monitoring tools, and methodologies. This support empowers partners to conduct effective self-monitoring and significantly contributes to WFP's visibility and accountability within its coverage areas. Regular preparation of detailed field mission reports is essential for documenting programme implementation and progress. Finally, the role requires strict adherence to established emergency response processes and procedures, particularly for emergency food assistance, ensuring rapid and organized aid during crises.

Work Experience

Requires at least 4 years of experience in collecting, compiling, analyzing, and reporting program, operational, or project-related data and information using established procedures and tools. General knowledge of WFP monitoring and evaluation systems and standards is desirable. Fluency in English and Tajik and/or Russian is also required.
