Job Purpose
The Mine Action Information Management Officer will play a crucial role in supporting WFP's mine action initiatives in Ukraine. This position involves developing and maintaining essential information management products, including maps, dashboards, and reports, to aid operational planning and inform decision-making. The officer will collaborate with partners, ensuring data integrity and quality by maintaining established protocols and procedures, and leveraging GIS processes for spatial analysis and visualization. Responsibilities include managing data systems, conducting data analysis, and facilitating information sharing among stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of mine action activities and support WFP's mission in a challenging operational context.
Responsibilities
The Mine Action Information Management Officer will be responsible for supporting mine action information management through the development and maintenance of essential IM products, including maps, dashboards, and reports. This role involves close collaboration with partners to ensure the successful spatial analysis and visualization of project activities, requiring a detailed understanding of GIS processes. Key duties include providing technical expertise for the development of mine action data systems, reviewing data needs and gaps, and evaluating current GIS data processes and tools. The officer will maintain established protocols for the project’s data management system, ensuring data integrity and quality by linking with the Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA) and partner IM systems. They will utilize available mine action data to support analytical and operational work, maintain and update existing data analysis tools and GIS products, and establish project dashboards and reporting mechanisms. Furthermore, the role involves monitoring and maintaining the IM portal and shared databases. Data collection and analysis are crucial, requiring the maintenance of data collection processes and methodologies, updating GIS database systems, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure the availability of quality information for informed decision-making. The officer will also analyze and interpret multiple datasets, identify trends, and prepare regular reports and presentations on project activities and progress, with a focus on the mine action component. Information sharing and coordination involve providing IM and GIS support to project staff, facilitating data exchange among stakeholders, and contributing to the development of a dissemination plan for all products. The role also requires coordination with the Operational Information Management unit and partner IM counterparts to ensure interoperability and data sharing, and participation in relevant mine action sectoral IM working groups.
Work Experience
Requires at least one year of postgraduate professional experience in Information Management, preferably within international humanitarian NGOs, civil service, government, or social impact organizations. Demonstrable professional experience in a mine action context is mandatory. Additional years of relevant experience are considered an asset.
