Job Purpose
The World Food Programme (WFP) seeks to establish a roster of Enumerators to support its Research, Assessment & Monitoring (RAM) unit in collecting quantitative and qualitative data for various food security assessments and monitoring surveys. Under the supervision of WFP RAM officers or consultants, enumerators will participate in comprehensive training on data collection tools and methodologies. Their primary responsibility will be to conduct household and trader interviews accurately, record data using digital equipment, and ensure the quality and completeness of information gathered. This role is crucial for informing WFP's programming, decision-making, and accountability to donors and beneficiaries, contributing directly to the achievement of WFP's mission to achieve Zero Hunger.
Responsibilities
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking enumerators to support its Research, Assessment & Monitoring (RAM) unit in collecting quantitative and qualitative data for various food security assessments and monitoring surveys. This role is crucial for measuring the progress and results of WFP's Country Strategic Plan in Tanzania, informing programming, decision-making, and ensuring accountability to stakeholders. Enumerators will participate in comprehensive training on data collection tools and methodologies. Their primary responsibilities include conducting household interviews and trader interviews, accurately recording data using digital equipment like tablets, and maintaining detailed records of all collected information. They must ensure the quality, accuracy, and completeness of the data, reflecting the actual field situation and meeting assessment objectives. Daily feedback on field findings is expected, along with timely submission of data via WFP's data collection platform. Enumerators are accountable for diligent work, meeting daily targets, adhering to WFP's ethical principles, maintaining participant confidentiality, and promptly reporting any absence due to illness. The role requires strong interview skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, adaptability to digital platforms, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Swahili. Sensitivity to cultural nuances is also important.
Work Experience
The role requires strong interview skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and proficiency in using digital data collection tools like tablets and smartphones. Candidates should possess good interpersonal and communication skills, be sensitive to cultural nuances, and have fluency in English and Swahili. Prior knowledge of WFP interventions in Tanzania is advantageous. A secondary school education is mandatory, with a post-secondary certificate in a related field being desirable.
