Job Purpose

The Warehouse Assistant (Magasinier.ère) G4 will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate reception, dispatch, and verification of goods within WFP warehouses in Farchana and Guereda, Chad. This role is crucial for maximizing the quality of warehousing operations, minimizing losses, and upholding WFP's best practices in stock management. The incumbent will handle all aspects of warehousing activities under minimal supervision, ensuring that all goods are accounted for, their quality is maintained, and inventory records are meticulously updated. This position plays a vital part in the effective delivery of humanitarian assistance by maintaining the integrity and availability of essential supplies.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities involve the efficient management of warehouse operations, focusing on the accurate reception and dispatch of goods. This includes meticulous verification of quantities and quality against official documentation, ensuring compliance with established standards. A key duty is the preparation and validation of all warehousing and transport documents, maintaining confidential files and operational data to generate timely reports on merchandise movement as per WFP requirements. Daily stock reconciliation and checks are essential for internal control systems. The role also entails conducting daily inspections of received, dispatched, and handled goods, promptly identifying and analyzing stock discrepancies or damages, investigating missing items, and reporting on warehouse losses with recommended solutions to support informed decision-making. Furthermore, it requires implementing appropriate protective measures for both food and non-food items to maintain quality, adhering to standard prevention methods and WFP procedures. Monitoring the warehouse and goods' condition is crucial for efficient space planning and methodical storage. Finally, the position involves providing guidance and on-the-job training to warehouse staff to enhance their performance and effectiveness.

Work Experience

Candidates need a minimum of 4 years of warehouse experience. This includes proficiency in database usage and periodic report generation. Essential experience also covers managing warehouses with both food and non-food items, effective stock management, and processing invoices.
