Job Purpose
The Programme Policy Officer (Micronutrients) will serve as the Project Coordinator for the Postcode Lotterij Food Fortification Project in Tanzania. This role is crucial for implementing WFP's strategy to combat micronutrient deficiencies by pioneering the fortification of underutilized staples like maize and sorghum. The incumbent will oversee project planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment with global objectives and donor commitments. Responsibilities include coordinating with national and international teams, managing grant budgets, monitoring progress, and facilitating policy dialogue to support the adoption of fortification standards. The position also involves mapping and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, supporting evidence generation through the MIMI project, and contributing to resource mobilization and knowledge sharing to strengthen Tanzania's food fortification ecosystem and improve nutrition outcomes.
Responsibilities
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a Programme Policy Officer (Micronutrients) to serve as Project Coordinator for the Postcode Lotterij Food Fortification Project in Tanzania. This role involves comprehensive project management, ensuring alignment with global objectives and donor requirements. The coordinator will act as the main liaison between the WFP Tanzania Country Office, Global Headquarters, and the global project team. Key responsibilities include overseeing WFP Tanzania's food fortification and biofortification initiatives, representing WFP in relevant forums, and leading the planning and execution of project phases. Financial oversight, including monitoring grant spending and re-programming budgets, is crucial. The role demands close monitoring of implementation progress, reporting on milestones, and managing stakeholder engagement with government entities, NGOs, UN agencies, civil society, the private sector, research institutions, and donors. The coordinator will support the application of the MIMI project for better targeting and advocacy, facilitate policy dialogue, and contribute to the development and adoption of fortification standards. They will also be involved in finalizing the nutrition integration strategy, supporting evidence generation and dissemination, leading resource mobilization efforts, and managing donor reporting and communication. The position requires contributing to global knowledge sharing and ensuring effective collaboration across WFP units and with external partners.
Work Experience
Requires 5-10 years of relevant professional experience in nutrition, specifically in micronutrients, food fortification, biofortification, public health, or food systems.
