Job Purpose
The IT Operations Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery, maintenance, and optimization of the IT infrastructure at the WFP Country Office in Juba, South Sudan. This position is vital for ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performance network services, including LAN, WAN, and voice/data connectivity. The associate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving network issues, assisting in the deployment of WAN and SDWAN solutions, and managing internet connectivity. Additionally, the role involves configuring network security infrastructure, providing technical support, maintaining documentation, and contributing to IT projects and procurement processes. This role directly enables effective business operations and emergency response activities by ensuring robust and seamless IT services.
Responsibilities
The IT Operations Associate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure at the WFP Country Office in Juba, South Sudan. This includes the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of network hardware and software to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing network services that align with corporate standards. The role involves monitoring network performance, troubleshooting connectivity issues across switching, routing, and wireless environments, and resolving them to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity. The associate will also assist in deploying and managing WAN and SDWAN solutions to enhance resilience and optimize bandwidth usage, as well as maintaining internet connectivity services, including primary and backup links, and coordinating with service providers. Key responsibilities also include configuring IP addressing, VLANs, and network segmentation, supporting voice systems (PBX, IVR), and managing network security infrastructure like Fortigate firewalls and VPN access. Furthermore, the role entails providing second-level technical support for network-related incidents, maintaining accurate technical documentation, contributing to infrastructure upgrades and innovation initiatives, and supporting procurement processes for network-related goods and services. Occasional travel to field offices for infrastructure support may be required.
Work Experience
Requires at least six years of professional experience in Information Technology and telecommunications. This includes hands-on experience in LAN/WAN/network administration, connectivity management, and technical support in operational settings. Experience in IT service delivery, user support, network troubleshooting, and implementing IT infrastructure projects is also necessary.
