Job Purpose
The Programme Associate (Sustainable School Feeding) will provide specialized support and technical analysis for policy and programme activities related to the Sustainable School Feeding (SSF) Programme at the field office level. This role involves acting as a focal point for SSF activities in Karongi, ensuring alignment with WFP policies and guidelines. The associate will prepare reports, analyze data on food assistance needs and programme performance, and maintain accurate data records. They will also liaise with internal and external counterparts, including local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions, to ensure timely and effective implementation of SSF activities. Furthermore, the role includes supporting capacity building for WFP staff, partners, and local government, and resolving operational queries within the area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate, under the supervision of the Head of Field Office and the Sustainable School Feeding (SSF) Project Manager, provides crucial specialized support and technical analysis for SSF Programme activities. Key responsibilities include assisting in the development and implementation of field-level activities, ensuring alignment with WFP policies and guidelines. The Associate acts as a focal point for SSF activities in their area, offering project management support to meet established targets. This involves preparing reports and data analyses on needs, resource utilization, and programme performance, highlighting trends and issues while maintaining quality control. Accurate and timely data recording is essential, as is liaising with internal counterparts and external partners like local agencies, NGOs, and government institutions for effective collaboration and timely execution of SSF activities. The role also includes supporting capacity building for WFP staff, partners, and local government officials, and serving as a point of contact for operational queries and problem resolution. Active participation in quarterly district technical committee meetings and Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) meetings is required, advocating for school feeding programmes. Facilitating monthly partner meetings and coordinating quarterly joint oversight visits are also key duties. The Associate must demonstrate an ability to identify factors affecting programme implementation, support the implementation of various transfer modalities, understand technical concepts relevant to school feeding, and contribute to programme development and realignment.
Work Experience
Experience required includes working with technical teams (e.g., nutrition, education, VAM), contributing to program implementation, and working in remote areas. Observing or assisting with policy discussions is also beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for developing and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders, maintaining a professional demeanor with partners and stakeholders.
