Job Purpose
The Communication Senior Associate will be instrumental in enhancing WFP El Salvador's public profile and communicating its impact to key audiences. This role involves developing and executing strategic communication plans aligned with the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2022–2027, focusing on strengthening national capacities, food systems, and resilience. The associate will manage media relations, create compelling content for various platforms, support advocacy and donor visibility, and ensure consistent messaging. Responsibilities include maintaining media contacts, developing social media content, generating donor-specific visibility materials, monitoring media landscapes, and providing guidance to junior staff and colleagues on communication best practices. The aim is to effectively promote WFP's mandate, showcase its achievements, and support resource mobilization and partnership development.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve implementing country-specific communication plans to enhance the World Food Programme's (WFP) visibility and reputation, while also supporting fundraising efforts. This includes conducting research, analyzing assigned areas, and preparing information products for target audiences. A key duty is maintaining media contact lists and facilitating the flow of information about WFP's work to journalists to ensure consistent and appropriate communication. The role also requires supporting social media strategies by developing content and utilizing various platforms and networks to increase coverage and support for WFP activities. Generating donor-specific visibility content, such as text, photos, and videos for online platforms, is crucial for global and country fundraising, ensuring alignment with corporate messaging. Monitoring traditional and social media is essential for informing communication strategies and evaluating their effectiveness. Additionally, the position involves guiding and supervising junior staff, providing expertise, and supporting capacity building for WFP staff on communication aspects. Collaboration with WFP staff and external counterparts is necessary to ensure aligned activities and a coherent communication approach.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 7 years of postgraduate professional experience in journalism, PR, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
