Job Purpose
The Communications Intern will provide comprehensive support to the Communications Unit in managing, designing, and producing digital and audiovisual content. This role involves contributing creative ideas and assisting with visibility activities to effectively position, document, and disseminate the impact of WFP's "Saving Lives Changing Lives" mandate in El Salvador. The intern will generate dynamic content for WFP's digital platforms, analyze social media performance, and propose innovative digital marketing strategies. Additionally, they will support the production of institutional videos, cover field events with high-quality audiovisual material, and assist with editorial, operational, and logistical tasks. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in humanitarian communications within a dynamic and diverse international organization.
Responsibilities
The role involves comprehensive support for the Communications Unit, focusing on digital content, audiovisual production, and editorial assistance. Key responsibilities include generating, scheduling, and publishing engaging content for WFP El Salvador's digital platforms and the Representative's institutional account. This position requires creating monthly performance reports for social media, analyzing reach and engagement, and contributing innovative digital marketing ideas. Adaptation of global and regional campaigns to the Salvadoran context is also expected. In audiovisual production, the role supports graphic design, pre-production, recording, and editing of institutional videos. Field coverage for official events and visits, capturing high-quality photo and video material, is essential, with a requirement for travel within the country. Editorial support includes drafting and editing institutional documents and informational materials in Spanish and English, as well as performing translations. Operational assistance encompasses daily administrative and logistical tasks within the Communications Unit and managing internal and external inquiries with a service-oriented approach.
Work Experience
The role requires a graduate or alumnus in graphic design, communications, or a related field. Experience in managing and generating content for social media, including posts, dynamics, and campaigns, is also desired. Proficiency in design software like Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, as well as video and photo editing tools such as Premier, After Effects, Audition, and Lightroom, is essential. Strong writing and spelling skills in Spanish are necessary, with intermediate English proficiency preferred. The ability to communicate ideas creatively and work organizedly to meet deadlines is important.
