WFP's response includes emergency aid, nutrition, resilience building, and strengthening food systems. Job Purpose
The Partnership Consultant will provide strategic leadership for WFP Burkina Faso's External Relations function, focusing on developing and strengthening partnerships, mobilizing resources, and enhancing donor relations. This role is pivotal in aligning external engagement with corporate and country-specific strategic objectives. The incumbent will lead a team to drive high-quality interactions with key stakeholders, aiming to secure sustainable funding and elevate WFP's visibility and influence within the humanitarian landscape. This involves designing and implementing innovative partnership strategies, identifying new funding avenues, and cultivating robust relationships with governments, donors, the private sector, and other UN agencies to effectively support WFP's mission in addressing the complex food security challenges in the region.
Responsibilities
The role involves leading and managing an External Relations Unit, focusing on strategic partnership development, resource mobilization, and stakeholder engagement. Key responsibilities include supervising a team, fostering a high-performance environment, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. The position requires designing and implementing partnership strategies to expand funding sources, identifying new opportunities with diverse donors, and cultivating strong relationships with existing partners. Effective stakeholder engagement with governments, donors, and private sector actors is crucial for positioning the organization in policy discussions and preparing high-quality advocacy materials. The role also entails coordinating partner engagement across different units, overseeing reporting processes for compliance and quality, and monitoring partnership performance using corporate systems. Strategic development includes identifying innovative collaboration models and conducting risk assessments. Representation in relevant forums and advocacy efforts are also key. The position emphasizes integrating gender equality and inclusion, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, and performing related duties as required. This includes managing relationships, developing action plans, and providing strategic advice to senior management on partnership opportunities and risks.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in partnerships, external relations, or resource mobilization. Proven experience in managing multi-stakeholder partnerships (governments, donors, private sector) and demonstrated experience in resource mobilization, proposal development, and donor engagement are essential.
