Job Purpose
The Assistant (SC4) for Monitoring will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation of WFP's assistance programs in Beni, Bunia, and Bukavu. The primary objective is to conduct monitoring activities within the designated intervention areas and provide timely, accurate reports to support program management. This involves verifying planned movements and distributions of food and non-food items, identifying and reporting any issues or discrepancies to facilitate prompt resolution, and ensuring operations align with WFP standards. The role also entails managing monitoring-related information and documentation, liaising with cooperating partners and colleagues to gather feedback, and consolidating beneficiary and partner feedback to identify challenges and improve service delivery. Additionally, the Assistant will provide guidance to partners on WFP's monitoring tools and methods, contributing to enhanced visibility and accountability in the field. Ultimately, this position contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of emergency food assistance by ensuring robust monitoring and reporting mechanisms are in place.
Responsibilities
This role involves comprehensive monitoring and reporting to ensure the effective delivery of assistance programs. Key responsibilities include verifying the planned movements and distributions of food and non-food items, promptly reporting any discrepancies to supervisors to maintain compliance with WFP standards. The incumbent is also responsible for managing essential information files and documents, such as product movement records and program checklists, which are crucial for efficient delivery and distribution processes. A significant part of the role involves data compilation for assistance programs, adhering to established guidelines to facilitate thorough program reviews and support informed decision-making. Furthermore, the position requires active liaison with cooperating partners and colleagues to gather valuable feedback and observations, which are then utilized to enhance program services and overall effectiveness. This includes receiving and consolidating feedback from both partners and beneficiaries to proactively identify potential issues and foster efficient operational conduct. The role also extends to providing guidance to cooperating partners on WFP's operational practices, monitoring tools, and methodologies, thereby empowering them to conduct self-monitoring tasks and increase WFP's visibility in intervention areas. Finally, the individual will prepare detailed mission reports outlining program implementation and ensure the strict application of defined processes and procedures for emergency food assistance delivery.
Work Experience
The role requires experience in analyzing product data and direct effects. A general understanding of WFP's monitoring and evaluation systems and standards is also necessary.
