Job Purpose
The Budget and Programming Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal utilization of financial resources for WFP's humanitarian operations. Responsibilities
The Budget & Programming Associate provides specialized support for efficient planning, monitoring, and analysis of project financial performance, aiming to optimize financial resource utilization. This involves reviewing budget plans, monitoring financial performance, and making recommendations in compliance with WFP policies to support financial analysis and resource optimization. The role includes comprehensive analysis of fund and grant balances, identifying surpluses or deficits, and proposing corrective measures to maximize fund utilization and inform decision-making. The Associate also supports pipeline management to prevent breaks and enhance operational effectiveness. They contribute to improving internal processes, corporate systems, and tool design for overall planning, expenditure forecasting, and budget management. Responsibilities extend to accurately entering project budget plans and revisions into corporate systems, compiling and analyzing data, maintaining records, and preparing various reports for internal and external stakeholders. The Associate provides crucial inputs for the CO Resource Management Committee, contributes to managing Global Commodity Management Facility supply lines, and facilitates corporate stock allocation decisions. Furthermore, they maintain communication with stakeholders on fund management, provide guidance to support staff on budget and fund management, and adhere to emergency preparedness practices to ensure rapid response capabilities.
Work Experience
Requires six or more years of progressively responsible work experience within the relevant business stream, including general administrative work. Desired experience includes assisting with budget monitoring, resource plans, pipelines, supply chains, and familiarity with WFP's budget system and financial information systems. Experience in performing complex analytics, preparing operational budgets, and working with large datasets is also beneficial.
