Organizational Context
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives and building pathways to peace and prosperity for those affected by conflict, disasters, and climate change. This role is based in the WFP Field Office Karachi, supporting nutrition programming in vulnerable districts of Sindh, working as part of a team to coordinate with stakeholders.
Job Purpose
The Programme Associate (Data & Info) plays a crucial role in ensuring effective information management for nutrition and safety net programmes at the provincial level in Karachi. This position is central to maintaining and reconciling critical programme data, including for CMAM, CMAM surge, and the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, thereby supporting evidence-based decision-making and programme integrity. The role involves providing technical support for programme implementation, strengthening the data management capacities of cooperating partners, and ensuring accurate data collection, validation, cleaning, and analysis across various platforms like COMET, BISP BNP app, NIS, and SCOPE. Furthermore, the Associate is responsible for preparing comprehensive reports and data analyses to monitor programme status, performance, and resource utilization, ensuring adherence to corporate standards. This position also involves active liaison with cooperating partners, government institutions, and district authorities to foster collaboration, facilitate project implementation, and support capacity building initiatives, ultimately contributing to the efficient delivery of humanitarian assistance and improved nutritional outcomes in vulnerable districts.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate (Data & Info) holds primary responsibility for the comprehensive information management of nutrition and safety net programmes at the provincial level. This encompasses maintaining and reconciling critical data for initiatives such as CMAM, CMAM surge, and the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across various systems including COMET, BISP BNP app, NIS, and SCOPE. A significant aspect of the role involves providing technical support to cooperating partners (CPs), strengthening their data management skills, and overseeing the submission and review of their monthly invoices, reports, budgets, and proposals. The Associate facilitates the compilation of CBT output data, manages beneficiary registration, tracking, and distribution planning, and assists in SCOPE implementation. Key financial responsibilities include preparing Cash Release Notes and coordinating with Financial Service Providers and CPs to ensure timely cash disbursements. The role also demands ensuring WFP’s data protection policy is implemented by CPs at the field level. Furthermore, the Associate prepares a range of analytical reports on programme status, resource utilization, and performance trends, highlighting issues and ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards. Regular liaison with CPs, government institutions, and district authorities is crucial for effective collaboration and monitoring of project activities. Field visits are conducted to support and monitor activities, address issues, and manage complaints and feedback mechanisms with strict confidentiality, contributing to strategic planning and partner capacity building.
Work Experience
Candidates need a minimum of 6 years experience in public or private sector, preferably with provincial/national/international organizations. Experience should demonstrate implementation, ideally in nutrition, food security, or Cash Based Transfers (CBT).
