Job Purpose
The Programme Associate for Nutrition Technical Support plays a crucial role in advancing WFP's nutrition objectives by providing comprehensive technical and operational assistance. This position is instrumental in the development and implementation of nutrition initiatives, including Social and Behaviour Change interventions and the capacity strengthening of the National School Meal Programme, ensuring strict alignment with WFP policies and guidelines. The associate will support effective programme and project management, facilitating the timely delivery of activities and contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of the Country Strategic Plan outcomes. This involves preparing analytical reports, managing data, and assisting in business planning processes. Furthermore, the role requires active collaboration with internal teams and external partners, including government bodies and NGOs, to enhance coordination, foster capacity building among stakeholders, and serve as a focal point for operational queries. The associate also contributes to emergency preparedness, ensuring WFP's swift response capabilities in crises, ultimately strengthening WFP's ability to achieve impactful nutrition outcomes.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate – Nutrition Technical Support is responsible for providing comprehensive technical and operational assistance to various nutrition-related initiatives. This includes developing and implementing programmes such as the National School Meal Programme capacity strengthening and Social and Behaviour Change interventions, ensuring strict alignment with WFP policies and guidelines. The role involves supporting overall programme and project management to guarantee the timely delivery of activities. Key duties also encompass preparing detailed reports and analyzing data within nutrition and School-Based Programmes (SBP), identifying trends, and upholding corporate standards. The associate will assist in business planning by monitoring progress, updating records, and supporting the implementation and oversight of the Country Strategic Plan's relevant outcomes, ensuring data accuracy and consistent information sharing with stakeholders. Furthermore, the position requires supporting nutrition unit studies and research, offering technical guidance during planning and execution. Collaboration with internal teams is crucial for enhancing coordination, monitoring, and budget tracking, alongside reviewing and guiding support and field teams to meet objectives. The role also involves coordinating with external partners, including government institutions, NGOs, and the private sector, and building capacity for WFP staff, cooperating partners, and government officials. Finally, the associate acts as a focal point for operational queries within the nutrition unit and contributes to emergency preparedness and response efforts.
Work Experience
Candidates need at least six years of relevant work experience in Nutrition, agriculture, health promotion, development field food science, or social science. Experience working with technical teams (e.g., nutrition, M&E, School nutrition) is also required.
