Job Purpose

The Logistics Officer will contribute to the daily planning and coordination of WFP's logistics operations in Pakistan. This role involves monitoring services provided by external organizations to ensure cost-effectiveness and the achievement of operational objectives. The officer will support the development of logistics plans, manage operational activities, and contribute to supply chain processes including procurement, shipping, and customs clearance. Responsibilities include conducting financial analysis, preparing reports with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and providing technical guidance to colleagues and partners. The role also entails supporting emergency logistics preparedness, capacity building, and fostering productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the efficient delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.

Responsibilities

The Logistics Officer contributes to the daily planning and coordination of WFP logistics operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and achievement of objectives. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing logistics plans in compliance with WFP standards, and supporting or managing operational activities to facilitate the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries. The role involves collecting and analyzing data to recommend improvements for local logistics, conducting financial analysis, and reviewing budgets to optimize fund utilization. The officer also contributes to operational pipeline planning and manages various aspects of the supply chain, such as procurement, shipping, port operations, customs clearance, and contracting logistics services. Technical support and guidance are provided to other units, particularly during emergency responses. Supervision and guidance are extended to junior staff, acting as a referral for complex issues. The role also entails collating data for accurate reporting, including Key Performance Indicators, to support informed decision-making. Furthermore, the officer supports capacity building for WFP staff and partners, fosters relationships for an integrated approach, and participates in emergency logistics preparedness to ensure rapid response during crises. Continuous review of internal processes to enhance efficiency and acting in emergency response capacities are also crucial.

Work Experience

Requires 3 years of post-graduate relevant professional/managerial experience with a Master's degree, or 5 years with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should be in a Supply Chain-related industry, Logistics, Shipping, or Procurement.
