Job Purpose
The Monitoring Assistant will coordinate and execute monitoring activities within designated areas to ensure the effective delivery of assistance packages. This role involves verifying the distribution of food and non-food items, resolving operational issues, and ensuring adherence to WFP standards. The assistant will collect, analyze, and report on programme data, collaborating with partners to support informed decision-making and programme reviews. Key responsibilities include liaising with stakeholders to gather feedback, suggesting improvements to monitoring processes, and facilitating communication with community leaders and partners. The role also entails providing guidance and training to staff and partners on WFP operational practices and monitoring tools, preparing field mission reports, and following emergency response procedures.
Responsibilities
This role involves verifying the planned movements and distribution of food and non-food items, ensuring operations meet WFP standards by resolving issues and escalating as needed. A key responsibility is collecting, summarizing, and analyzing assistance programme data, then preparing comprehensive reports to support programme reviews and informed decision-making. The individual will actively liaise with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather crucial feedback, which is vital for improving services and enhancing programme effectiveness. Furthermore, the role requires suggesting improvements to field monitoring processes and procedures to ensure the efficient implementation of assistance programmes. Regular meetings with community leaders and partners are essential to discuss commodity pipelines, distribution arrangements, and food entitlements, fostering effective communication and efficient operations. The position also includes allocating tasks to other staff, providing guidance and on-the-job training to support their professional development and high performance. Training cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools, and methods is crucial for enabling independent self-monitoring and increasing WFP's visibility. Finally, the role involves preparing detailed field mission reports to document programme implementation and strictly following emergency response processes for food assistance, alongside performing other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of field work experience in social development, humanitarian work, health, nutrition, or food security. Must have experience in collecting and analyzing program data (quantitative and qualitative), reporting findings to stakeholders, and using WFP's monitoring and evaluation systems and standards.
