Job Purpose
The Logistics Assistant will implement standard logistics and supply chain processes to ensure the effective delivery of goods and services. This role supports the planning, coordination, dispatch, monitoring, and reporting of convoy operations, particularly to hard-to-reach areas. The incumbent will ensure efficient resource allocation, compliance with safety and operational standards, and timely cargo delivery from discharge points to final destinations. Key responsibilities include supporting commodity and supply ordering, managing vendor contracts, responding to technical queries, contributing to budget monitoring, assisting with inventory and commodity accounting, and liaising with stakeholders to optimize logistics operations and ensure accurate reporting for informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
The role involves providing comprehensive support to logistics operations and activities, ensuring the efficient delivery of food assistance. Key responsibilities include supporting the timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies, and managing vendor contracts through performance monitoring. The position requires responding to technical queries with a client-service mindset and contributing to budget preparation, monitoring, and revision, ensuring adherence to corporate standards. A significant aspect is assisting in inventory management, tracking goods from source to beneficiary, and maintaining the quality and integrity of commodity accounting data. The role also supports operational pipeline analyses, assessments, and planning for various delivery methods. Processing essential logistics documentation, such as customs clearance and invoice verification, and resolving operational issues are crucial. Furthermore, the incumbent will collect and compile data for reports, ensuring accuracy in corporate systems to support informed decision-making. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and providing guidance to support staff are also key duties, all performed within delegated authority and under direct supervision.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years of experience in logistics services, with a preference for expertise in transport management and warehousing.
