Job Purpose
The Storekeeper will be responsible for managing warehouse operations to ensure the efficient receipt, dispatch, and verification of commodities, thereby minimizing losses and upholding quality standards. This role involves meticulous record-keeping, conducting inventory checks, and performing daily inspections to maintain accurate stock levels and report on commodity conditions. The Storekeeper will implement measures to safeguard commodities, optimize warehouse space, and ensure compliance with WFP's established warehouse standards and guidelines. Additionally, the position requires providing guidance and on-the-job training to warehouse staff, contributing to overall team performance and the effective execution of emergency response within warehouse activities.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve the meticulous management of commodity receipt and dispatch operations within a logistics cluster, operating under the direct supervision of the Logistics Cluster Coordinator. This includes accurately receiving and dispatching goods, ensuring precise physical counts and quality checks against official documentation, and managing transhipment activities. A key duty is the preparation, verification, and signing of all warehouse and transport documents, maintaining confidential files, and ensuring accurate transaction records for timely reporting on commodity movements. Daily reconciliation of warehouse closing balances and inventory checks are essential for robust internal control systems. The role also requires performing daily inspections, reporting on commodity quantity and quality, analyzing stock discrepancies or damages, investigating missing items, and preparing loss reports with recommended solutions. Safeguarding commodities through standard preventive measures and implementing appropriate quality control procedures are critical. Additionally, the incumbent must monitor warehouse and commodity conditions, optimize space planning, and provide guidance and on-the-job training to warehouse staff to enhance team performance and development. Performing other related duties as required is also part of the role.
Work Experience
Requires at least four years of progressive experience, with a minimum of one year specifically in warehouse management, inventory management, and data entry. This experience should encompass various aspects of logistics and supply chain operations.
